About labC and Berlin Crisis Solutions
Berlin Crisis Solutions (www.bcs-experts.com) operates at the intersection of science and strategy, helping organizations, governments, and institutions navigate complexity and uncertainty. To advance the scientific base and quality of its consultancy, BCS established labC as a dedicated hub for research, innovation, and evidence-based methodology in crisis communication.
labC brings together expertise from communication science, sociology, political science, and cultural studies. Its central concern is how crises are constructed, communicated, and governed across diverse socio-political contexts. The lab promotes cross-national and comparative approaches to risk, crisis, and disaster communication, extending from war and conflict to socio-political disruption and global emergencies.
A distinctive line of inquiry at labC is the de-Westernization of crisis communication research. This work interrogates the assumptions of Eurocentric paradigms, examines which of them travel and which do not, and develops context-sensitive frameworks that reflect the cultural, political, and social realities of the Global South.

Although based in Asia, labC operates as an international node connecting scholarly traditions in East and West. Its aim is to produce insights that explain how crises unfold and that strengthen trust, resilience, and governance in different institutional settings.
